I just wrote some stuff about how I think Vox has great potential over at Tapirtype Blog (my main public facing blog).
Do you believe in ghosts? Have you ever seen a ghost?

The old theater that I worked in at college was supposed to be haunted by the ghost of Hamilton Murray (a puritanical man who was lost at sea and would not have been happy that his memorial building had been turned into a theater). But what really haunted me was the giant transistor "Hummy" who hummed away loudly in the green room. Late one night I started to fall asleep and I had a dream in which Hummy's hum morphed into words arguing to me that if something could go through the process of defending it's own sentience that it was, therefore, sentient and that therefore it, Hummy, was sentient... Sadly it never talked to me again.
The most amusing thing from my end was that I had picked up a pumpkin cheep at Fred Myer last weekend, but it was huge and I had to transport it all the way across town. So, after despairing for a while about how I was going to lug the thing on the bus I realized that I could just stuff it in my suitcase. It made me feel like a bit of a tool, but it worked perfectly.
So, there you go. It can now, officially be Halloween!
Storms are rolling in over Seattle and it seems someone felt like yanking my power for about 60 seconds there.
I'd like to take this opportunity to thank all of my electronics for their amazingly graceful recovery, especially my MacBook Pro, Mallory, for never missing a beat as she cut over to battery and realized she no longer had her wireless lifeline to the internet, logging me off of iChat and pausing the track she was streaming over to my stereo. She then nicely realized it was back when my Airport Express quickly re-established contact a minute later, reconnecting to the internet without me needing to lift a finger.
Or rather everything would have gone that way if weak link of a Netgear wired router hadn't merely pretended to re-establish it's connection to the internet. Oh, it was there blinking away, but there was no internet on the other side of the line until I forced it to reboot again. That's it, wired router, you're out of here! I no longer use any of my wired connections anyway, I'm letting the Airport Express take over your job. Bad, router!
Oh, and special recognition also goes out to the TiVo, bless it's heart, being back up and running minutes after the power came back on. As we get more and more dependent on electricity it's nice to know some pieces of equipment know how to deal when it gets yanked. Although it does make me think... Maybe I should get a UPS for the TiVo... I mean what if it had been in the middle of recording Battlestar Galactica? I mean, graceful sure, but it can't work miracles.
What did you think you would never ever do... but did?

Get engaged to Sasha. I had a massive crush on her for going on two years before we started dating. It was never going to happen, but six years later, here we are! :-)
My mom just signed up over here. Be nice to her, she's new to blogging. I'm excited to see if she gets in to it. She certainly has a lot to share.
I'm trying this out for personal blogging between family and friends.
For my public facing site you should go to Tapirtype Blog.
